What cache-keeper looks like in use

No recording yet for cache-keeper. The repository README has the details.

Before you install

A mod is not sandboxed. It runs inside Claude Code with your permissions. This one:

  • can read Session usage
  • can read tool names
  • can read short chat titles and local chat state
  • can write Chat heartbeats
  • can write settings and handoff files
  • can spend Your usage allowance

Check it yourself before running it: git clone https://github.com/nateherkai/claude-code-mods && claude plugin validate ./ · MIT licensed

Install

claude plugin marketplace add nateherkai/claude-code-mods
claude plugin install cache-keeper@nateherk-mods

Then run /cache inside the session.

Needs Claude Code 2.1.287 or later. After installing, run /reload-plugins if the session was already open. Full install guide

What changes after installation

A line above the prompt shows cache state, context size, estimated rewrite cost and account limits. /keepwarm enables timed cache pings, while a cold-send guard can ask before an expensive message.

/board lists local chats that loaded the mod. /handoff creates a session brief and offers a clear-and-continue workflow. /cache controls cache lifetime assumptions and alerts.

Good to know

Set the cache TTL correctly for your account; the default assumption may not fit API-key or usage-credit sessions. Repeated warming on a short cache can cost more than the rewrite it avoids. Board history is local to the current machine.
