What cache-timer looks like in use

No recording yet for cache-timer. The repository README has the details.

Before you install

A mod is not sandboxed. It runs inside Claude Code with your permissions. This one:

  • can read Request timing
  • can read token counts and account usage limits
  • can write Last usage reading for later sessions

Check it yourself before running it: git clone https://github.com/arasovic/claude-code-mods && claude plugin validate ./ · MIT licensed

Install

claude plugin marketplace add arasovic/claude-code-mods
claude plugin install cache-timer@claude-code-mods

Needs Claude Code 2.1.287 or later. After installing, run /reload-plugins if the session was already open. Full install guide

What changes after installation

A compact line changes from warm, to send-soon, to cold. Near expiry it shows the remaining time; after expiry it indicates how much context the next message may need to cache again.

The timer follows main-conversation requests and ignores subagent requests, which do not renew the main cache. Clearing or compacting resets the displayed state.

Good to know

Claude Code does not expose every cache decision to mods, so the timer infers lifetime from settings and observed account behavior. Server-side renewal, model changes and resumed sessions can make it temporarily stale. The author’s marketplace shares its name with unrelated marketplaces, so verify the repository owner before installing.
