What budget-guard looks like in use

No recording yet for budget-guard. The repository README has the details.

Before you install

A mod is not sandboxed. It runs inside Claude Code with your permissions. This one:

  • can read Session cost and five-hour or seven-day plan usage
  • can write Guard limits and mode in plugin settings

Check it yourself before running it: git clone https://github.com/Arunjay4213/claude-mods && claude plugin validate ./ · Not stated licensed

Install

claude plugin marketplace add Arunjay4213/claude-mods
claude plugin install budget-guard@claude-mods

Then run /guard inside the session.

Needs Claude Code 2.1.287 or later. After installing, run /reload-plugins if the session was already open. Full install guide

What changes after installation

Set a session dollar cap or plan-window percentage with /guard. The mod stays quiet below the warning level, then pins the relevant figures near the prompt. In block mode it refuses subsequent tool calls past a limit and asks before the next prompt.

/guard warn switches to warnings only; /guard override allows one turn and /guard off disables the guard.

Good to know

The cost limit starts disabled, so set it explicitly if that is why you installed the mod. Plan windows require subscription data and are unavailable in API-key sessions. Headless runs cannot show an interactive question, making the behavior closer to a hard stop.
