What recording-mode looks like in use

No recording yet for recording-mode. The repository README has the details.

Before you install

A mod is not sandboxed. It runs inside Claude Code with your permissions. This one:

  • can read Screen text
  • can read tool inputs
  • can read environment values and selected file paths
  • can write Recording flag and optional masking configuration

Check it yourself before running it: git clone https://github.com/nateherkai/claude-code-mods && claude plugin validate ./ · MIT licensed

Install

claude plugin marketplace add nateherkai/claude-code-mods
claude plugin install recording-mode@nateherk-mods

Then run /rec inside the session.

Needs Claude Code 2.1.287 or later. After installing, run /reload-plugins if the session was already open. Full install guide

What changes after installation

Run /rec before capturing your screen. Common credentials, personal details and business figures are replaced in the visible interface. Selected tool results are hidden and attempts to open configured private paths are refused until /rec off.

/rec strict masks more numbers. /rec config creates a local file for custom names, paths and tool rules.

Good to know

The mod also adds a short discretion instruction to prompts, so it influences responses while active. It cannot mask every naturally written secret, desktop sidebar title or previously stored transcript. Use it as an extra recording precaution, not as the only privacy boundary.
