What ctx-handoff looks like in use

No recording yet for ctx-handoff. The repository README has the details.

Before you install

A mod is not sandboxed. It runs inside Claude Code with your permissions. This one:

  • can read Context usage
  • can read Every prompt you send
  • can read background task results and conversation context
  • can write Recent handoffs and pending resume state
  • can spend Your usage allowance

Check it yourself before running it: git clone https://github.com/cablate/ctx-handoff-mod && claude plugin validate ./ · MIT licensed

Install

git clone https://github.com/cablate/ctx-handoff-mod ~/.claude/mods/ctx-handoff
claude --plugin-dir ~/.claude/mods/ctx-handoff

Then run /handoff-status inside the session.

Needs Claude Code 2.1.287 or later. After installing, run /reload-plugins if the session was already open. Full install guide

What changes after installation

When the main conversation crosses its configured context threshold, the mod generates a handoff, runs /clear and starts a new conversation with that brief. It waits for tracked background work before proceeding.

After long idle periods it can refresh the cache and eventually save an away handoff. /handoff-status shows state; /handoff-now yes forces the workflow.

Good to know

This is loaded from a local clone, not a remote marketplace. The author marks it experimental and documents incomplete background-task detection and cache-refresh assumptions. Its generated prompts and messages are in Traditional Chinese. Test in a non-critical session before enabling automatic clearing.
